well, i guess the "plastic surgery" you referred to is "整形"(sometimes 整型). From my non-professional perspective, i think they are trying to say "shaping". In general i think "shaping" in origami means shaping sth more similar to the real item they are folding into. But i found sometimes "shaping" might also contain some other operations. Like, for example, this guy said he learnt "shaping" is not only "pinching randomly", but also adding more addtional foldings which can help add more details on models to change the overall feeling. And i guess "shaping" here means a series of complex operations which are still mainly assisting in shaping. Do you understand my explaination? but yeah im also looking forward to more professional and comprehensive explanation about "整形".
