What paper to use is decided by many different factors
- its size
- complexity and structure of your model (many creases/lots of tension on your model/...)

I mostly use simple kraft paper and for more advanced projects I use selfmade foil backed paper (which is strong, gives sharp. strsaight creases (doesn't wrinkle), ... and which makes good shaping possible.

The advantage of this paper for larger/more complex models is that it facilitates shaping, that the model keeps it shape more easy, and that the folding process itself is smoother.
